Christmas Wreath Making

Liz and Ruth from Rose Castle’s friendly Gardening team will guide you all the way as you design and make a beautiful and individual Christmas wreath for your home, using evergreens, berries, seedheads and all-natural materials from the Rose Castle gardens.  

You’ll need to bring a pair of secateurs/strong scissors and a pair of gloves but otherwise all the materials you need will be provided.  If you would like to bring anything specific to add in from your own garden or Christmas collections your very welcome to. Your wreath will be the envy of friends and family.

Festive Feast

After a joyful morning of wreath making, settle in for a warming spread created by our Head Chef Noel. His menu is full of seasonal favourites, hearty bites, and sweet treats to share—just the thing to bring everyone together and celebrate the festive season in comfort and cheer.

You will retire to the State Drawing Room, with its 18th Century meticulously hand-painted Chinoiserie wall coverings. Warm fires set in both historic stone fireplaces will accompany your menu of delights to feast in comfort and splendour.

Rose Castle has 15 guest bedrooms, all of which have been lovingly restored to the highest standards. The 800-year-old Castle makes a great place to unwind, reconnect with loved ones and create memories made to be cherished. 

Enjoy Dinner In Style

Our Head Chef Noel works closely alongside Janet, our Head Gardener, to bring food from the gardens to our table throughout the calendar year.

Our orchards have been bursting with apples, damsons with wild flowers and roses nearby. And both the vegetable garden and apothecary garden grow produce for our stores. Even our bread is homemade!

Enjoy a wholesome meal in our State Dining Room, to get the full experience of staying overnight at Rose Castle.

Enjoy Our Grounds

Why not take a stroll around our beautiful gardens and take in the fresh winter air? Explore the Bishop's Lawn, our walled Pettinger's Garden, with its fell views, and our Apothecary Garden. Amble through the apple orchard, or explore the Moat Woodland, past the Old Fishpond to the Main Drive - there is lots to discover!

Accessibility: There is disabled access to all ground floor and first floor areas of the castle, including the State Dining Room (called the "Chinese Room" for its Chinoiserie hand-painted wallpaper).

Dietary requirements: Upon booking you will receive a form which asks for any dietary requirements. If you would like to discuss your requirements further, please email hello@rosecastle.com or call us on 01228 642980.

Dogs: Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted inside Rose Castle or in the formal gardens, for this event.

Parking: There is plenty of free parking space available within the castle grounds. 

Bar: Our bar will be open for the purchase of wine, beer, cider, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, teas and coffees. Please note that we can only accept card payments.  

Facilities: Toilets and baby changing facilities are located in the castle and will be available for general use.
