4. Find wedding suppliers who understand your vision
When searching for suppliers like photographers, videographers and florists, be guided by the style of their work. Does it compliment your ideas? You don’t have to go for a cookie cutter approach, but if you like their style, you can create something truly wonderful.
5. Ask family and friends for help
Your friends and family want you to have the wedding day of your dreams and will want to help you make that dream a reality. Do you have a friend who is a master at calligraphy? Ask if they want to help create your place names for your wedding breakfast. Or do you have a great idea for making your own favours? Get your bridesmaids together for a day of crafts and turn it into something special you can do together.
6. Lean on your venue too
The team at your wedding venue should also be able to support you with the planning. At Rose Castle, we hope to make planning your wedding as stress-free as possible. We’ll arrange an initial planning meeting to draw out the things you want from your big day. You’ll get to meet with the head chef, the operations manager and various members of the team to bring everything together just as you imagine. We can help with things like controlling your budget, managing schedules, sourcing suppliers.
We can even take of the practical side of things, from collecting dietary requirements to booking accommodation, even the pillow choices and favourite drinks of those staying at the castle with you. We take care of it all, so you can focus on the fun parts of planning your wedding!
7. Don’t sweat the small stuff
Try not to let the little things like seating arrangements or the weather on the day worry you. Perhaps you’re dreaming of an August wedding with your guests mingling outside on the lawn, champagne in hand, with an acoustic duo performing in the background. But make sure you arrange a plan B should the weather not go your way. You’ll be getting married to the love of your life, little things like the rain or who's sitting where won’t make the day any less special.
8. Set a deadline for a week or two before your big day
After months of planning, you deserve time before your big day to properly relax, pamper yourself, and enjoy your final days of being engaged. This is the time to check back with all your suppliers to make sure everything is ready, but don’t leave any big decisions or DIY projects to the last minute. Give yourself a hard stop date of at least a week or two before the wedding.
9. Enjoy the journey
From making your initial wish list to shopping for the dress to taking your engagement photos, there will be so many wonderful moments throughout your wedding planning process. Take time to soak them all in. You’re only engaged once!
