One of the most magical things about your wedding day is having everyone you love, your family and friends, all in one place. We share some of our favourite wedding entertainment ideas and activities that could add that extra special something to your big day. There’s something for every couple, whether you are looking for something simple and classic, or bold and exhilarating. Lawn games

Games can be a fantastic way to bring people together. From cricket and croquet to a sack race or giant Jenga; there are plenty of options to keep your guests entertained. Set the game to a background of music and let your guests get a little competitive, drink in hand. There’s something wonderful about seeing all of your guests interacting and having fun in a way that feels natural. For example, The Bishop’s Lawn at Rose Castle is a perfect spot to hold an outdoor game, with beautiful views across the Caldew River Valley, and the Lake District fells in the distance. Or venture into the huge playground of the moat woodland for a more wild, rustic setting.

Looking to add a little excitement to the proceedings? Axe throwing is sure to delight your guests. Unique, fun and memorable, it’s a great activity if you’re looking to do something a bit different. There are a number of providers in Cumbria and the Lake District who can come along and teach you and your guests how to do it properly, so couples getting married at Rose Castle will be spoilt for choice.

Abseiling

When it comes to your wedding day, the sky is your limit. If you want an alternative way to make an entrance, how about abseiling into your wedding? Entering your big day from down the Strickland Tower at Rose Castle is guaranteed to impress your guests! Or why not get more people involved and let them have a go themselves? Turn your bar into interactive entertainment with a live tasting of whisky - or your favourite tipple. Have a bartender or sommelier guide groups of guests through the tasting during the reception. Perhaps there’s a type of drink that’s particularly special to you as a couple. Including it as part of your day is a fun way to add a unique, personal touch to the day. Fireworks

Bonfire

Gathering round the fire, drink in hand, can be a wonderful way to end an exciting day. Sit back and take it all in, all your loved ones, together in one place. For example, at Rose Castle, you can have a firepit out on The Bishop’s Lawn or a bonfire out beyond the moat woodland for the perfect view of the castle at night.

Live band

A live band can provide a fantastic atmosphere for your big day and is sure to get people up and dancing in the evening. You may even wish to have a band play as you walk down the aisle, as you gather for drinks after the ceremony, or during your wedding breakfast. From any genre to a brass band, steel drums, a harpist or string quartet - the possibilities are almost endless.

Photo booths are always a big hit with guests. Choose a backdrop and props that suit your own style and let your guests enjoy themselves.
