An Afternoon Tea Fit for a King
The Coronation of King Charles III takes place at Westminster Abbey on the morning of Saturday 6th May. To mark this momentous occasion we will be screening a live broadcast from our elegant Chinese Room and State Dining Room, and invite you to join us from 10 o’clock. During the televised ceremony, which will begin at around11am, we will serve you a sumptuous Afternoon Tea, with a glass of Prosecco to toast the King.
The Venue
Our special event starts from 10am so you can make yourself comfortable and enjoy tea and coffee before the ceremony screening and your Afternoon Tea. Why not wander the grounds and enjoy our gardens?

The very definition of intimate, our opulent Chinese Room is perfect for couples and small groups. Its Grade II listed wallpaper was designed and hand-painted by the same artist who conceived the famed Yellow Drawing Room in Buckingham Palace. As you sit back and relax in advance of the ceremony, take in the sumptuous decor and soak up the fabulous views of our manicured lawns and distant Lake District fells.

Ideal for larger groups, our ornately decorated State Dining Room enjoys an abundance of natural light and is a stunning space from which to enjoy this historic occasion on the big screen. Sit back and savour every bite of your Afternoon Tea.

The Food
Our head chef will whip up a lavish Afternoon Tea featuring the very finest, fresh local produce. Each sweet and savoury treat has been designed to reflect traditional British flavours. Sample a selection of delicate sandwiches, warm scones served with lashings of jam and clotted cream, exquisite savouries, and indulgent sweet treats.
The Drinks
We will be offering guests a range of tea and coffee, as well as a complimentary glass of Prosecco to toast the monarch. For an extra-special tipple, a ‘Coronation Cocktail’ will be available to purchase from the bar. Based on King Charles’ rumoured favourite drink, a classic Martini, this twist on gin and vermouth is guaranteed to delight.
